19:00/7pm. I have a ton more pics and stories to share. Many are already in FB feed (Kyle Macy Hall, Shanghai). I’ll get more in here in near future…
Meanwhile, how’s a man supposed to feel about going into the office tomorrow at 08:00 for the first time in about 5 months?
Due to online teaching pre-lockdown, then the 65 day Shanghai lockdown (see blog), then gallavanting around southern China these past six weeks—from 10 July-20 August—it may be a shock to my system. I only hope it’s not too much for my lil’ heart to bear.
My vow (made and broken many a time before): Write at least a sentence a day describing thoughts (or a single thought), hopes, aspirations, adventures…
As a Kentuckian living in China, I hope to bring some liveliness and happiness to your daily news feed.
So, here it all begins: I do not want to go into work. There. Straight up.
BUT…to whom much is given, much is expected in return. I will go in as a man on fire. As an educator-colleague-staff member, I will do my best to do my duty to G-d and country.
I will be hopeful. Happy. Optimistic. When the going gets tough, I will go to my Happy Place, knowing all the while Disneyland is practically next door—about 30 miles around the way.
And so it will begin anew…My first day of official teaching was in 2005. Now it is 2022 and I’m still plugging away. I will give it my all, but only within official work hours (unless there are extenuating circumstances).
My work-life balance will remain intact at all times. This I have learned and learned well.
